8 Days - No Tate

We went on our annual beach trip to Panama City with the high school youth at church this past week. Brian's parents were keeping Tate and we decided to take him a day and a half early to provide us some date night opportunities and since we would be heading to the lake to following weekend, Nana decided to keep him a day and a half on the end of our trip as well. I must say by day 8 we were more than ready to see our boy. It was on the day we went to get him, day 8, that he finally looked up at Nana while making cornbread and said, "I see my mommy." She called to tell us that it was perfect timing to see him as he was ready for us! So sweet. I'm glad he loves to spend time away though because as my mom told me, it makes me a better mom. Time away really helps to reset your mind to the fact that these are the years we train, train, train, and teach, teach, teach our children and what we need most is patience. It is difficult at times, but I love watching him grow and see the fruits of our labor as he begins to thank us, love on us, and use good manners without prompting at times.

Date Night #1 - A bar/restaurant opening downtown with a few friends, picture below.

Date Night #2 - Movie night - "Grown-Ups"

A little practical joking on the way down to PCB, rode with our great friends Dave and Leigh and B had to take a restroom break - Dave set a trap for him. I guess they felt the need to act like the high schoolers we were headed to serve.

1500 people, 1200 of them students, worshiping our high and mighty God. The week was incredible, great messages all wrapped up in the phrase, "If you truly encounter Jesus you are changed, forever." It is always powerful to watch students worship and grow. There was plenty of fun and mischief mixed in, but overall the trip was a HUGE success.

When we got home, we were busy around the house, trying to do things that are difficult to do when our sweet precious man is around. We had Day Date #3 - a trip to Trader Joe's, cleaned the house, and transitioned Tate's crib into a toddler bed. He got out a couple nights before we left so we knew we had to do it. We bought him a large woody stuffed animal to join him in his new bed, hope he transitions well.

- The 4th of July -

We headed to Madison on the 2nd to pick up our little man, then we were off to the lake on the 3rd. We have wonderful friends I've known since high school that live on the lake and hanging out at their place has become a bit of a tradition. This year, the Lambs joined us since they are a mere 30 mins from there. It was total R&R, just hanging out on the boat, the tube, and the shade (for me).

At the Madison 4th celebration: Tate preferred to watch from the car. He was much more vocal about the fireworks once in the car and enjoyed the show from there.

Ahh - now in the car, I can relax and enjoy the show!
