Sweet Blake Turns One!

Blake turned one this past weekend. I can't believe that the year has gone by already. It is so hard because we don't get to see him often enough. I feel like I haven't gotten in an adequate number of Blake visits. This year hopefully we can squeeze more in. I love this first picture because Tate wants to help out. He loves Blake and I can't wait to see them bond as cousins over the years. I hope they get into their fair share of mischief, hold secrets for one another, love each other like brothers, and love the Lord even more. Poor Blake, if only he knew then that his days with the bottle are numbered - turning one leads to lots of transitions. In fact he walked the day before his birthday for the first time. Beating Tate for sure as Tate was 16 months before he walked!
Grandma has more toys that Toys R Us, and Tate LOVES her new dirt devil. He must have vacuumed at least an hour or so over the few days we were there. Poor Tater did end up with a nasty red sore throat over our visit.
Aunt Amy and Uncle Mike really outdid themselves on Blake's Party. It was outdoors and super cute all around: They had bbq, outdoor water play for the kids, butcher paper on the fence for chalk play, colorful lanterns lined the yard, and pool towels as favors!
Mom took pictures, but somehow I didn't get any cake pictures from her, but this is where it all went down. He didn't have the best experience with the cake as it all came back up, but had a very fun day for sure!
. . . and then the inflatables - WOW is all I can say. This is a slip and slide. I wanted to go on it SOOOOO badly, but in poor planning had now extra clothes. It also had a foam machine going so it got super sudzie. I do not care for slip and slides b/c I fear hitting the ground at fast speeds, but this would have been right down my alley, so it is a must in our rental future.Tate did enjoy the slip and slide more as a trampoline, but he preferred this baby pool. He and Loden had a ball. Loden is Blake's cousin, but they live probably 10 miles from us so we consider them family as well.
There was also a water slide as you can see in the background here - Tate did not like this one, but we pushed him down one time for good measure.
The man of the hour: My sweet, precious nephew.

I think a block party with a rented slip 'n slide sounds like a great idea. :) Someone on another blog did just that so the parents could play too.
